Motion Graphics,
Projection Mapping
Several students and lecturers from Mahidol University International College’s (MUIC) Communication Design and Creative Technology programs, along with staff members from Information Technology and Corporate Communication sections, were invited to create motion graphics with projection mapping for the MU Orientation 2566 on July 31, 2023 at Prince Mahidol Hall, Salaya campus.
We were given the task of conveying the concept of “First Love” using motion graphics whilst also responding to the music scores given. In collaboration with my teammates, we inferred that love is an incredibly elusive idea, carrying intense and mercurial emotions, both positive and negative. Therefore, we conveyed the brief by utilizing an abstract, colorful, and romantic style, effectively breathing life into the task we were given.
As the vice leader of one of the groups, I facilitated this part of the project, managed the schedules and proceedings and heavily contributed to the formation of creative concepts, design direction, and motion graphics as a team member, creating a cohesive and lively atmosphere fit for innovation.
"The focus of the project was not only to create a visual that offers immersive experiences for the participants, specifically #MU134 freshmen, as a warm welcome gesture to congratulate and greet them, but also to promote the capabilities of students in the making of the motions and the programs at MUIC.
There were seven motion clips for the hour-and-a-half performance, with 31 students divided into groups that were responsible for each clip. Two lecturers, Dr. Dynaya Bhutipunthu and Ajarn Yuttana Suntivong, served as director and editor, respectively.
A total of four weeks were spent in the making of this project, working in-classes (ICCD326 CD Practicum and ICCD342 New Media Design), and outside classes for volunteer students.
The recorded videos of the motions during the performance on Orientation Day was posted in the Mahidol, We Mahidol, and College of Music social network channels and have received many positive responses. We Mahidol channel will edit and post the making of motions in this project in their next episode." —— MUIC News
